PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire for a passenger conveyor which directly prevents an action of taking sneak photos of users, and which can select a proper countermeasure operation against sneak photography for each of many and unspecified users.SOLUTION: A luminaire for a passenger conveyor having footsteps 2, a handrail 3 and a moving handrail 4 includes: an illumination unit 5 for radiating visible light from the handrail 3 toward the footsteps 2 obliquely downward; an infrared-ray irradiation unit 6 for radiating infrared rays from the handrail 3 toward the footsteps 2 obliquely downward; a first type user detection unit 11 and a second type user detection unit 12 for detecting a first type user and a second type user respectively; an illumination control unit 13 for allowing the illumination unit 5 to radiate with a first light amount at normal time, and when the first type user is detected, allowing the illumination unit to radiate with a second light amount which is larger than the first light amount for a certain period of time; and an infrared-ray irradiation control unit 14 for allowing the infrared-ray irradiation unit 6 to radiate infrared rays for a certain period of time when the second type user is detected.
