Provided are: a liquid composition that has outstanding resistance to hydrogen peroxide and peroxide radicals, can further increase the output voltage of a membrane electrode assembly, and can form a catalyst layer that can maintain high output voltage for a long period; a method for manufacturing said liquid composition; and a membrane electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell that uses said liquid composition. Provided is the liquid composition which is used to form a catalyst layer that constitutes an electrode of a membrane electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, wherein the liquid composition comprises a liquid medium, a fluorine-containing polymer (H) that has a sulfonate group and a ring structure, and trivalent or tetravalent cerium ions, and the content of the trivalent or tetravalent cerium ions with respect to the sulfonate group (100 mol%) is 1.6-23.3 mol%. |
