Disclosed are a state monitoring system of an electric transmission tower and a method thereof. The state monitoring system of the electric transmission tower includes: at least one fiber Bragg grating sensor which is attached to at least one of the electric transmission tower and an insulator and reflects a light incident from a light source; and a terminal device which generates measurement data as to at least one of temperature and strain of an area where the fiber Bragg grating sensor is attached, on the basis of the wavelength of the light reflected from the fiber Bragg grating sensor. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the state of the whole electric transmission tower can be diagnosed by one terminal device, so that it is possible to monitor the electric transmission tower at low cost effectively.
