The present invention relates to monounsaturated polymers prepared by homopolymerization of ethylene as the only monomer, and having one carbon-carbon double bond per polymer chain, a degree of branching ranging from 10 to 500 branches per 1000 carbon atoms and a number average molecular weight from 300 to 10,000 g/mol, and having a branching pattern comprising: 60 to 85 % methyl branches, 4 to 10 % ethyl branches, 2 to 4.5 % n-propyl branches, 3 to 15 % secondary butyl branches, and 2 to 15 % n-butyl branches and alkyl branches containing more than 4 carbon atoms, except for secondary butyl branches. The present invention further relates to polymers obtained by reacting the carbon carbon double bond of the monounsaturated polymers. The invention further relates to the manufacture of the polymers, the use of the polymers in defoamer formulations, the thus obtained defoamer formulations and their use as well as liquid compositions containing the polymers of the present invention. |
