OPTICAL INTERCONNECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

An optical interconnection system and method. The system comprises two or more than two basic units (1) which are stacked and interconnected, each of the basic units (1) comprising an optical network layer (11) and an electrical layer (12). In each of the basic units (1), the optical network layer (11) and the electrical layer (12) are in an electrical interconnection; and the optical network layer (11) of each of the basic units (1) and the optical network layer (11) of the adjacent basic unit (1) are in an optical interconnection. By means of the method, optical signals are transmitted between the optical network layers (11) by way of the optical interconnection between the optical network layers (11), and electrical signals are transmitted on the electrical layers (12), thereby achieving the signal transmission and data processing between stacked layers which are optically interconnected. By way of the optical interconnection in a three-dimensional space, the limitation on the number of stacked layers of electrical layers is reduced, and the transmission efficiency of signals is improved.
