The present invention relates to a system for control of a numerically controlled machine tool 20 by a user, comprising an operator console 2 being operable by the user and a mobile data carrier 3, and to an operator console 2 and a mobile data carrier 3 for use in such system. The operator console 2 has a receiving slot 23 for receiving the mobile data carrier 3 and a first communication interface adapted to be communicably connected to a second communication interface of the mobile data carrier 3, wherein the second communication interface includes a female connector socket 31 and the first communication interface includes a male connector plug 41 provided at an inner end face portion of the receiving slot 23 for being plugged into the female connector socket 31 of the mobile data carrier when the mobile data carrier 3 is received in the receiving slot 23.
