<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional substrate constituted in such a manner that even when a certain film is patterned thereon, a film-existent portion is not discriminated visually from a film-nonexistent portion. <P>SOLUTION: The functional substrate is obtained by forming a patterned optical thin film and two or more other optical thin films each having the refractive index different from that of the substrate on at least one surface of the substrate.
