<p>The tool 100 includes a ratchet gear 108 disposed in an aperture 138 in a first drive end 104 and a receiving portion 144 adapted to engage and provide torque to a work piece such as a fastener. The aperture in the first drive end includes a shoulder 148 or retaining web extending into the aperture. The ratchet gear includes a ring groove 146, with the receiving portion and the ring groove on opposite sides of the shoulder. A retaining ring 116 is disposed in the ring groove and adapted to retain the ratchet gear in the aperture. The retaining ring limits offset loading that may be applied to a cover plate and/or retention screws when the tool is being used.</p> |
