<p>Separating 1-hexene from a mixture, which comprises e.g. ethylene and solvent, obtained from an ethylene trimerization reaction section, comprises (a) separating the mixture into a top fraction comprising ethylene and a bottom fraction, (b) separating a portion of an effluent deriving from the bottom fraction into a top fraction comprising 1-hexene and 1-butene and a bottom fraction, and (c) separating a portion of the fraction comprising 1-hexene and 1-butene into a top fraction principally comprising 1-butene and into a bottom fraction principally comprising 1-hexene. Separating 1-hexene from a mixture, which comprises ethylene, solvent, ethylene trimerization catalyst and formed products including 1-hexene, obtained from an ethylene trimerization reaction section, comprises (a) separating the mixture in a first distillation column into a top fraction comprising ethylene and a bottom fraction, (b) separating, in a second distillation column, a portion of an effluent deriving from the bottom fraction into a top fraction comprising 1-hexene and 1-butene and a bottom fraction, and (c) separating, in a final distillation column, a portion of the fraction comprising 1-hexene and 1-butene into a top fraction principally comprising 1-butene and into a bottom fraction principally comprising 1-hexene. The portion of effluent deriving from the bottom fraction obtained from step (b) is returned to the reaction section and the portion of bottom fraction obtained from step (b) is used in a recirculation loop connecting the reaction section and the column of the step (b). The recirculation loop is used to cool the reaction section and to reboil the column of step (b).</p> |
