An attachment to facilitate the bending of long workpieces in a bending machine having a fixed plate 1 carrying projecting brackets 5 in which is pivoted a bending plate 3 consists of members 6, 7 hinged together, the lower member 6 being removably secured to the fixed plate 1 and the upper member 7 being turned to bend the workpiece 13 when the bending plate is rotated. The attachment is suitable for use with the machines described in Specifications 541,479 and 567,943 which machines are in the form of a vice having a moving jaw 14 cooperating with the fixed plate 1. The upper and lower members 7, 6 consist of vertical bars having interlaced ends through which the pivot 10 passes and secured to backing plates 9, 8. The backing plate 9 carries a roller 11 engaging the bending plate 3 to which a handle 15 is secured. Long plates may be bent by slitting at intervals down to the bending line, bending in turn the portions between the slits and welding the slits. |
