PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool and method for polishing a string musical instrument neck part fret capable of simply and accurately performing the sliding of frets. ! SOLUTION: A polishing part 12 is inserted between all strings stretched on a string musical instrument neck part from one of the width directions of the string stretched area of the string musical instrument neck part to the other side thereof and a fingerboard 3. In that state, sandpaper being a polishing member is interposed between the polishing part 12 and the fingerboard 3 so as to be moved back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the string musical instrument neck part, while applying a pressing force toward the fingerboard 3 from a gripping part 10.
