The present invention relates to a method for generating a time stamp for a synchronous terrestrial broadcast, within at least one Single Frequency Network, of at least one audio-visual stream via at least one link wherein the at least one audio-visual stream is multiplexed with at least one other audio-visual stream broadcast by the at least one link. The method includes: - inserting (E401) packets comprising at least one piece of information representing a common reference clock; - detecting at least one packet comprising a piece of information representing the number of days elapsed since a predetermined date; - calculating the number of loopbacks from a counter during a predetermined duration; - updating the counter at each packet of the audio-visual stream transmitted; - inserting (E402) at least one packet comprising the value from the counter that is updated into the audio-visual stream so as to form a modified audio-visual stream; and - transmitting (E403) the modified audiovisual stream.
