PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper that can precisely change braking force in a plurality of stages by suppressing change in orifice sectional area due to a shift in relative position between two members when predetermined orifice sectional area is selected. ! SOLUTION: A damper has a cylinder 5 and a piston 2 inserted into the cylinder 5, and obtains braking force by making a fluid in the cylinder 5 flow out of the cylinder 5 through orifices 7a, 7b by moving the piston 2 in the cylinder 5. The damper has a cylinder cover which is provided with a through hole 5a in the cylinder 5 and has a plurality of shafts 6a, 6b insertable into the through hole 5a of the cylinder 5 and different in sectional area. One of the shafts 6a, 6b is inserted into the through hole 5a of the cylinder 5, and the orifices 7a, 7b are formed of a gap between the through hole 5a and the shaft inserted into the through hole 5a. !
