A removable test fitment 1 for temporarily monitoring a complex system 2; the removable test fitting comprises an indicator identifying the presence of the component within the complex-system. The indicator may be at least one of a visual, audible, tactile or EMF active indicator. There may be at least two indicators increasing the chances of detection. The visual indicator may comprise: a light source, possibly pulsed or continuous LED or OLED; a coloured indicator and a UV active indicator. The UV indicator may be fluorescent or phosphorescent coating, paint or layer. The coloured indicator may comprise a motif, optical pattern or icon; optical-pattern may be coded-pattern for storing fitment information or providing augmented reality effect. In use the fitment may link the complex-system to a diagnostic system. A method of removing a removable test fitment used to temporarily monitor a complex-system comprising the determination of the indicators presence and removing the fitment from the complex-system; determining the indicators presence is caused by interrogating the indicator with at least one stimuli to cause a detectable output. The stimuli may be at least one of UV light, an RF or magnetic pulse. Complex-systems may be pressurised, extreme temperature or electrical power systems. |
