PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to expand a region to be uniformly illuminated as much as possible.SOLUTION: An illumination device comprises: an optical element that causes incident coherent light to be diffused; a converging optical system that converges the coherent light diffused by the optical element; and a uniformizing optical system that, while causing the coherent light converged by the converging optical system to be totally reflected, emits the converged coherent light after causing the converged coherent light to propagate. An incidence surface of the uniformizing optical system is configured to be arranged at a rear side focus position of the converging optical system and an optical distance from a divergence point of the optical element to the converging optical system is configured to be longer than an optical distance from the converging optical system to the incidence surface of the uniformizing optical system.
