PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalytic converter which does not require a wide space around even when an EGR pipe is connected to the catalytic converter.SOLUTION: A case 3 and an EGR pipe 7 are brought into contact via a contact part 70, end part of the EGR pipe 7 and an end part 30 of the case 3 are aligned, these are fitted and inserted in a large diameter opening 6a of a downstream cone 6, and the fitted and inserted part is welded. Then, in a catalytic converter 1, by the contact part 70, a portion in which the contact part 70 of the EGR pipe 7 is provided and the case 3 are arranged in parallel, so that a space required around the catalytic converter 1 can be suppressed to a minimum by the installation of the EGR pipe 7. Therefore, by using the catalytic converter 1, a wide space is not required around it, so that improvement of low fuel consumption of a vehicle and compactification can be achieved at the same time. |
