PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which, when evenly performing a ground correction of patch density, there has been a case where a value of actual patch density cannot be accurately detected due to implementation of the ground correction depending upon the formed patch density. ! SOLUTION: Provided are: detection means for detecting light from an image carrier at a location where a density correction patch is not formed on the image carrier as a first detection result, and detecting light from the image carrier at a location where the density correction patch is formed on the image carrier as a second detection result; and control means for, in accordance with the second detection result, obtaining a correction coefficient for use in correction of the second detection result by the first detection result, and controlling an image formation condition of formation means on the basis of the correction result corrected by using the correction coefficient. !
