PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that enables a high-speed and highly accurate AF to be attained in an AF function of an image pickup element having a focus detection pixel. ! SOLUTION: An imaging device comprises: a reliability determination part 15 that determines reliability on the basis of a detection result of a motion detection part 12, a detection result of a first focus detection part 13 and a detection result of a second focus detection part 14; a focus detection area setting part 16 that sets a reading area where a signal of the focus detection pixel in a live view display is read on the basis of a determination result of the reliability determination part 15, and a detection result of the motion detection part 12; and a drive setting part 17 that sets a reading mode where signals of an image-formation pixel and the focus detection pixel in the live view display are read on the basis of the determination result of the reliability determination part 15. !
