PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition, which provides a cured material with good appearance even when using silica fine powder having little adhesive moisture and not being surface-treated, and furthermore possesses good thixotropic property and storage stability, and to provide a construction sealant using the composition.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a room temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition comprising (A) a diorganopolysiloxane represented by the formula (1) (Ris a primary hydrocarbon group; and m is an integer of 10 or more); (B) an organosilane compound represented by the formula (2) or its partial hydrolysis condensation product (Rand Rare primary hydrocarbon groups; and a is 3 or 4); (C) silica fine powder having a moisture content of less than 0.2 mass%; and (D) a curing catalyst, the method comprising steps of previously mixing (A) and (B) to prepare a uniform mixture and adding (C) to the mixture.
