The present invention relates to a member information placement area selection system, the invention comprising: a database storing an outer cut line information which is information of placement of an outer cut line to be marked in the steel, a hole cut line information which is information of placement of hole cut lines within the outer cut line, and member information which means information of members to be formed according to cutting by the outer cut line and the hole cut line; and a controller for selecting a placement area where the member information is placed, for each of members according to the outer cut line information and the hole cut line information. The controller, among intersections between horizontal perpendicular lines and vertical perpendicular lines being collinear with the lines of circumscribed rectangles circumscribing the hole cut lines, determines one intersection within the outer cut line as a base vertex; determines one intersection diagonal to the earlier intersection as a diagonal vertex; thereby, creates a rectangular area; and, upon determining that the rectangular area is an area capable of encapsulating the member information and that the rectangular area is a non-overlapping area, not overlapping with the circumscribed rectangular and the outer cut line, assigning the rectangular area as the member information placement area.
