Provided is an exhaust purification catalyst with excellent durability against exhaust containing a poisoning substance. This exhaust purification catalyst (7) is provided with a porous base material (10), a catalyst coat layer (30) formed on the porous base material, and a dummy coat layer (50) formed on the uppermost surface of said catalyst coat layer. The catalyst coat layer (30) has a carrier and a noble metal catalyst supported on the carrier. The dummy coat layer (50) comprises a carrier comprising at least alumina, and does not contain a noble metal catalyst. The dummy coat layer (50) is formed to have a length which, from the end on the exhaust gas inlet side, is 10-70% of the total length along the exhaust flow direction of the catalyst coat layer (30).
