PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for performing efficient air conditioning operation independently of the amount of refrigerant circulating in a refrigerant circuit. ! SOLUTION: A compressor 3, a condenser, a restrictor, and an evaporator are connected to form the refrigerant circuit. When a large amount of refrigerant circulates in the refrigerant circuit, suction superheat control is performed to allow the operation of the restrictor on the basis of the suction temperature of the refrigerant sucked into the compressor 3. When a small amount of refrigerant circulates therein, the suction superheat control is performed until a refrigeration cycle is stabilized and then discharge superheat control is performed to allow the operation of the restrictor on the basis of the discharge temperature of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor 3 after the refrigeration cycle is stabilized. !
