<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus can improving the color reproducibility of a pattern when printing an image including a pattern with chromatic colors. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a frequency distribution obtaining part 12 obtaining the frequency distribution of colors of respective pixels of image data; a color setting part 13 obtaining pattern colors; and an image formation control part 16 having a pattern mode for forming an image including at least one chromatic color while the pixel number of the pattern is less than a size determination value. The pattern mode includes a single color pattern mode of forming an image on a sheet using a pattern color. The frequency distribution obtaining part 12 generates three-dimensional frequency distribution information that shows frequency distribution with three-dimensional coordinates. The color setting part 13 sets, as a third class, a class having the largest frequency out of remaining classes which are classes remaining after excluding, from three-dimensional frequency distribution information, classes belonging to a set area set to include an area that connects a class to which white belongs, linearly to a class to which black belongs on the three-dimensional coordinates, and obtains the color of the third class as the pattern color. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
