A bearing for a steering column comprises an outer metal housing 10, an inner bearing liner 15 formed of nylon, and an intermediate lining 12 of rubber having a recess 13 in which the nylon liner 15 is seated. The liner 15 has an inclined slit 16 providing a compensation gap for expansion purposes. In a modification, a cylindrical rubber sleeve 18, Fig. 2, is provided with external bosses 19 adapted to be located in holes in the outer tube of the steering column. A thin steel tube is interposed between the nylon liner 23 and rubber sleeve 18. |
