A sensor for use in road safety devices and road safety devices comprising such a sensor are disclosed. The sensor may be capable of indicating when it is likely that ice has formed on a surface such as a road or walkway. The sensor may be for indicating that ambient temperature has reached a desired temperature threshold and may be suitable for use in an embedded pavement marker. The sensor may comprise: an expandable fluid reservoir; fluid held within the reservoir such that the fluid commences a volume change at the desired temperature threshold and such that the volume change causes the reservoir to expand or contract; an indicator in communication with the reservoir such that expansion or contraction of the reservoir results in a change in the observable state of the indicator. <Figure 3b> |
