This method is applicable to access points provided with electro-mechanical opening and closing mechanisms suitable for allowing the individual passage of successive users. Said method comprises: capturing images of the users passing through the access points to be controlled; the computer-processing of the received images and the detection, by means of image-processing algorithms, of the successive users passing through an access point; the calculation of the real time that elapses between the passage of two consecutive users through said access point; and the detection of fraudulent accesses, comparing the real passage time, by means of algorithmic analysis, with an alarm threshold or the estimated minimum time for the passage of consecutive users.
