A touch coordinate position with respect to an XY coordinate forming unit is simply detected. An XY coordinate forming unit (11) including a plurality of mutually intersecting respective wire members is provided with a drive signal input unit (21) and a position detection signal output unit (31). To the XY coordinate forming unit (11) of a single configuration, a drive signal from a drive signal input unit (21) is input. A designated position detection signal is obtained from the position detection signal output unit (31) when a position is designated by a position designation means (5, 6) with respect to the XY coordinate forming unit (11) of an opposite configuration. A mode switch unit (12, 13) can be used to switch a designated position detection mode of the XY coordinate forming unit (11) to an electrostatic coupling system or an electromagnetic induction system, whereby a designated position detection device of simple configuration can be realized. |
