The present invention relates to a content protection method, and to an electronic device providing a content protection function. The content protection method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the operations of: generating a protection key used in decoding of the protection content; generating a protection message based on the protection key, content transmitter identification information, and content receiver identification information; generating the protection content by encoding the content; and transmitting the protection content and the protection message to an external terminal.
