A security system comprises one or more sensor devices configured to detect conditions at one or more sites; one or more checkpoints at each of said one or more sites configured to receive signals from the one or more sensor devices; and a central headquarters processor configured to receive signals indicative of the conditions detected at said one or more sites from the one or more checkpoints. 1. A method comprising:
generating signals from a plurality of sensors configured to detect conditions at a site; transmitting the signals to one or more checkpoint computers configured to receive the signals, wherein the checkpoint computers comprise a checkpoint data processing subsystem configured to monitor the signals from the plurality of sensors at the site; transmitting the signals from the one or more checkpoint computers to a site central base station; transmitting the signals from the site central base station to a headquarters processor; and processing the signals at the headquarters processor to determine whether an event has occurred.
