Disclosed are a binder composition, a separator including binders formed therewith, a lithium battery including the separator, and a method of preparing the binder composition, wherein the binder composition comprises graft copolymers which comprise: a backbone which has repetitive units derived from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF) based polymers or copolymers in which some of fluoride atoms are substituted with at least one of chlorine (Cl), bromide (Br), and iodine (I); and a pendant chain which has hydrophilic repetitive units grafted on the backbone.
