PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-water storage type water heater which has improved heat insulation capacity at a low cost and effectively utilizes a protection material of exterior plates. ! SOLUTION: A hot-water storage type water heater 1 comprises: a hot-water storage tank 2; a heat insulation material 3 covering a periphery of the hot-water storage tank 2; and an external case 4 which covers the periphery of the hot-water storage tank 2 and the heat insulation material 3. The exterior case 4 consists of a plurality of exterior plates 4a to 4g made of thin metal plates. The exterior plates 4b to 4e have sheets of bubble wrap 5 pasted on inner surfaces thereof. The bubble wrap 5 functions as a buffer when the external plates 4b to 4e are stored and transported before being assembled into the external case 4.
