PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide metal nitride particles coated with silica formed by bonding silica particles directly to the surface of metal nitride particles. ! SOLUTION: Metal nitride particles coated with silica includes metal nitride particles and silica particles that have a volume average particle diameter smaller than that of the metal nitride particles and of 5 nm or more and 200 nm or less and cover the surface of the metal nitride particles without leaving almost any clearance by sintering thereon. High water resistance is achieved by bonding the metal nitride particles and the silica particles by sintering. Sintering is practiced under a condition that the silica particles and metal nitride particles do not melt, to achieve a strong bond while keeping a surface deposition state of the silica particles. !
