The present invention pertains to a power-transmitting friction belt that has a power-transmitting friction surface covered by a warp knitted fabric, wherein the warp knitted fabric contains water-absorbing thread in a percentage of 30 mass% or more of the total mass of thread constituting the warp knitted fabric, and the wale direction of the warp knitted fabric is substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the belt.
