PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently purify and dispose oil- and salt-containing heated wastewater in production of bitumen.SOLUTION: A wastewater treatment method includes purifying heated wastewater generating when recovering bitumen from an oil sand layer by an oil layer recovery method to reuse as a steam. In the method, bitumen is taken out from a heated bitumen mixture fluid recovered by pressing a high-temperature steam in the oil sand layer and besides, by membrane-distilling a separated heated wastewater using a hydrophobic porous membrane provided on a membrane distillation module, the heated wastewater is recovered as a treated water reducing or removing the oil and salt contents, and organic materials contained in the heated wastewater.
