Disclosed is a method for transmitting and receiving a discovery message in a wireless communication system, and an apparatus for same. More particularly, a method for transmitting and receiving a discovery message in a wireless communication system that supports device-to-device communication comprises: a step for a device in a radio resource control (RRC) idle state receiving information about resources for discovery message transmission that have been allocated from a network; and a step for the device transmitting a discovery message from the resources for discovery message transmission, wherein the resources for discovery message transmission can be allocated on the basis of a tracking area in which the device is located.
