<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally assisted magnetic recording medium having narrow inverse magnetic field dispersing and a magnetic recording device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In a magnetic recording device comprising a substrate, a plurality of base layers formed on the substrate and a magnetic layer mainly made of alloy having an L1<SB POS="POST">0</SB>structure, a thermally assisted magnetic recording medium in which at least one of the base layers is TiC is used.
