The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for managing a battery. The apparatus for managing a battery traces a voltage variation of a virtual capacitor within a battery, determines parameters according to the voltage variation, and manages the battery by using the parameters. According to the present invention, the battery can be adaptively controlled according to a system to which the apparatus for managing the battery is applied.
