1. A developing unit comprising:
a developer casing; a developing roller mounted on the developer casing; a receptacle that is disposed outside of the developer casing and supported on the developer casing to be slidable linearly with respect to the developer casing, wherein the receptacle is configured to accommodate waste developer; and a guide configured to guide the receptacle to be linearly slidingly moved with respect to the developer casing on which the developing roller is mounted, the guide having a first end and a second end such that sliding movement of the receptacle is regulated at the first end and at the second end, the second end being farther from the developing roller than the first end from the developing roller, wherein the receptacle is maintained to be engaged with the developer casing without being detached from the developer casing during sliding movement from the first end to the second end and vice versa.
