[Also in Group XL(c)] The Specification describes that part of an aircraft trainer which simulates the control of the " flaps " and the invention resides in an electrical network which simulates the condition where a hydraulic control system provides insufficient pressure to move the flaps to the desired position against the air resistance at high speed and low altitude. In the Figure, a control wheel controls differentially the position of the flaps while a speed brake handle controls them simultaneously, these two controls providing corresponding AC voltages at the input of an amplifier 38 of a servo control system. The output of the amplifier passes through a switch 46. which may be operated to represent switching the control into action, through a unit 50 and a further amplifier 12 to control a motor 10. The motor adjusts the position of a flap control shaft 16 to which a first potentiometer 28 is coupled to provide the feedback voltage for the servo system. A further potentiometer 26, also coupled to the shaft, feeds to amplifier 12 AC voltages representing the altitude and mach number of the aircraft. The network 50 limits the amplitude of the control voltage applied to amplifier 12 to a predetermined maximum value and may also prevent operation by voltages of the opposite phase. It thus simulates the condition in which there is insufficient power to move the flaps to the desired position. Specication 884,859 is referred to. |
