A semiconductor device comprises: a memory block which includes even memory cells and odd memory cells connected to bit lines; and an operational circuit made to perform a program execution of the even memory cells and the odd memory cells, a first verification which respectively verifies the even memory cells and the odd memory cells, and a second verification which simultaneously verifies the even memory cells and the odd memory cells. The operational circuit is made to selectively operate the first verification and the second verification according to the number of adjacent program fail cells among the program fail cells.
