PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode active material for lithium secondary batteries which is superior in high-rate discharge performance or additionally, improved in output characteristic; and a lithium secondary battery arranged by use of such a positive electrode active material.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for lithium secondary batteries comprises a lithium transition metal complex oxide having an α-NaFeOstructure. The transition metal(Me) includes Co, Ni and Mn. The mole ratio Li/Me of lithium (Li) to the transition metal is larger than one. The mole ratio Mn/Me of Mn in the transition metal is given by: Mn/Me≥0.5. The surfaces of particles of the lithium transition metal complex oxide are covered with a Ti compound; the Ti compound includes 0.2-1.5 mass% of Ti element to an active material. |
