The present invention relates to a system for supplying diesel fuel to a motor vehicle and to a method for controlling the system, the system comprising a fuel tank (3), a first pump (1) referred to as low-pressure pump taking the fuel from the tank (3) in order to provide same to a second so-called high-pressure pump (2). According to the method, the first pump (1) is controlled such as to adjust the amount of fuel provided in accordance with the needs of the second pump (2), the position of the vehicle is determined, and the first pump (1) is operated at a maximum pressure level if the vehicle is in one of several predetermined probable stopping areas. |
