PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyzer which prevents water to be used by users from being contaminated with scales generated in electrolysis.SOLUTION: An electrolyzer 41 includes: a vessel 47 having a water inlet 43 and a water outlet 45; an electrode arrangement part 50 having a plurality of electrodes 51 and 52 in the vessel 47; a circulation mechanism 80 with a pump 81 and a suction passage 82 into which a part of water in the vessel 47 on the downstream side of the electrode arrangement part 50 flows, which returns the water flowing into the suction passage 82 to the upstream in a circulation operation with the circulation water flow rate flowing into the suction passage 82 being set to be larger than the flow rate of the main stream on the upstream side of the water inlet 43; and a buffer part 60 disposed downstream of a suction port 82a of the suction passage 82, having a width L2 larger than the distance L1 between the edge 82b on the opposite side of the electrode arrangement part 50 at the suction port 82a and the electrode arrangement part 50.
