A steel ring (100) having a profiled cross section for a brassiere providing comfort and long wear life. The steel ring (100) is in the general shape of an arc and forms an arc-shaped inner edge and an arc-shaped outer edge. The cross-section of the wire forming the ring comprises a reduced neck (130) at the middle, the width of said neck being smaller than the width of the upper part and of the lower part (110, 120) respectively; the upper part (110) forms the arcuate inner edge of the steel ring (100), and the lower part (120) forms the arcuate outer edge of same. When the steel ring (100) is stretched or squeezed, the reduced neck (130) forms a buffer isolating the arcuate inner edge and arcuate outer edge of the steel ring from mutual traction or compression effects, thereby preventing the fatigue resistance of the steel ring (100) from being reduced when the cross section is enlarged, and also increasing the service life of said ring. |
