A method for providing information and a display apparatus applying the same are provided. The method for providing information about the display apparatus comprises the steps of: displaying image content; detecting objects in the image content at which a user gazes upon; transmitting a signal requesting information about the detected objects to an external server; and in the case of where the information of the detected object is received from the server, displaying the received information about the object.
