Power supply for a submarine branching unit

A branching unit for a submarine communications system. The branching unit including comprising an internal circuit with electronic components, an insulation transformer including a first primary winding, a second primary winding and a secondary winding and a first transistor electrically coupled to the first primary winding and a second transistor electrically coupled to the second primary winding. A control unit is configured to switch the first transistor or the second transistor on in different switching states and a result induce voltage in the secondary winding through conduction of current in the first winding and the second winding respectively. A rectifier bridge is used to rectify the voltage produced on the secondary which is input into the internal circuit.
