An expansion joint is provided to remarkably enhance the tightness of a fluid flowing inside an internal pipe by primarily blocking leak of the fluid flowing in the internal pipe by a packing unit inserted into a packing groove at one side of a packing housing, secondarily preventing leak of steam by an auxiliary packing unit inserted into a packing groove at a free end of the packing housing, and keeping tightness with several steps, and to improve productivity and reduce production costs by making the structure, manufacturing process, and assembly process brief and simple. The expansion joint with improved fluid tightness of the present invention comprises: an internal pipe; a packing housing installed at one end or both ends of the internal pipe with a packing groove for inserting a packing; a packing cylinder formed at the packing housing; an expansion pipe inserted into one end or both ends of the internal pipe to be able to slide; an external pipe placed outside the internal pipe; an auxiliary packing groove formed on the inner circumference surface of a free end of the packing housing; an auxiliary packing unit inserted into the auxiliary packing groove and formed in between the groove and the outer circumference surface of the expansion pipe; a packing support member installed at the end of the free end of the packing housing and suppresses and supports the auxiliary packing unit; and a fixing member combined with the packing housing to apply an applied pressure to the packing support member. |
