PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an implantable device for atraumatic removal of chronically implanted medical devices.SOLUTION: A medical device comprises: an implantable lead 100 having a length, a distal end 102, a proximal end 103, a vertical axis 105, an outer surface 104 and a longitudinal axis; and a tubular cover 190 that is positioned over a substantial portion of the outer surface of the implantable lead. The tubular cover is configured to tear when the implantable lead is removed through application of a longitudinal force to the lead following implantation. |
