摘要 PURPOSE: A polarized glasses type stereoscopic image display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve a vertical viewing angle and an aperture ratio by forming a light shielding pattern on the rear surface of a color filter substrate, and to prevent scratches due to a polishing belt. CONSTITUTION: According to a method for manufacturing a polarized glasses type stereoscopic image display device, a light shielding pattern(325) is formed on the other surface of a color filter substrate where a color filter is formed on one surface thereof. A protective layer made of polymer is formed on the whole surface of the color filter substrate where the light shielding pattern is formed. A rear ITO(308) is formed on the whole surface of the protective layer. An image panel(310) is formed by bonding an array substrate to the color filter substrate where the rear ITO is formed. The image panel displays left and right images on pixels per line. A polarizing plate is added onto the rear ITO of the color filter substrate of the image panel. A pattern retarder(320) is attached onto the polarizing plate. The pattern retarder separates left and right images displayed through the image panel spatially.
