PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine which secures an area of a seating face of a bolt insertion member contacted with a bolt seating face without reducing a diameter of a stator core and also increases a thickness of a part around a screw hole of a fixing portion to suppress degradation in performance, and of which the bolt insertion member is formed of a mass body to secure a set fastening force for a long period, and to provide a method for manufacturing a rotary electric machine stator.SOLUTION: A plurality of core blocks annularly arranged are inserted and fixed in a cylindrical frame 10 to be arranged inside the frame 10. A bolt insertion member 11 formed of a mass body and having a bolt inserting hole 11b penetrated in a length direction, is fixed an outer peripheral surface of the frame 10 by welding while setting a length direction of the member 11 in an axis direction of the frame 10. A stator 5 is held in a housing 1 by fastening a bolt 9 inserted into the bolt inserting hole 11b to a fixing portion 1a formed in the housing 1.
